ENA's "The Kidnapping Day" (script by Kim Je-young, directed by Park Yu-young) is set to be reborn as an international drama. Following a British remake, the series will now also be remade in Japan.

Drama production company AStory announced on the 2nd that "The Kidnapping Day" has confirmed its Japanese remake. Filming commenced last month, with an aim for its first broadcast this summer.

"The Kidnapping Day" is a buddy thriller that concluded in October 2023. It depicted the collaboration between an amateur kidnapper and an 11-year-old genius girl, starring actors Yoon Kye-sang, Yuna, and Park Sung-hoon.

For the Japanese remake, Kentaro Ushio will be in charge of the script, and Yoshihiro Fukagawa will direct. Takumi Saitoh and Yuno Nagao have been cast in the lead roles.

AStory previously announced the production of a British remake of "The Kidnapping Day" last year. They are currently proceeding with script adaptation and distribution plans with a subsidiary of the Hamburg Projection Group.

Meanwhile, the Japanese version of "The Kidnapping Day" will premiere on Japan's TV Asahi on July 8th.
