Xdinary Heroes Set for October Comeback as Five-Member Group with Guest Session Drummers

Xdinary Heroes is gearing up to release new music next month, marking their first official comeback since restructuring into a five-member band.

JYP Entertainment confirmed the news on September 7, stating that the group is actively preparing for an October release, with plans to follow up with a standalone concert in November.

This upcoming album marks a major turning point for the group following the departure of former leader and drummer Gunil, who left the band last month. Xdinary Heroes will continue forward with members Jungsu, Gaon, O.de, Jun Han, and Jooyeon.

Filling the Drum Throne with Guest Musicians

To maintain their live band setup, the group plans to fill the vacant drum position using guest session musicians for upcoming performances and recordings.

During their appearance at the Sound Planet Festival at Paradise City in Incheon on September 6, drummer Choi Hyun-jin joined the remaining five members on stage to handle the live percussion.

A Sudden Lineup Change Amid Legal Disagreements

Gunil's departure followed a series of online allegations concerning his personal life. A social media post published last month included audio recordings claiming he had spoken negatively about fans, triggering swift backlash.

JYP Entertainment subsequently announced the termination of Gunil's exclusive contract, stating that continuing team activities had become unviable and promising continued support for the remaining five members.

While Gunil initially posted a message to fans accepting the company's decision, his legal representative later issued a statement clarifying that he had not voluntarily left the group or agreed to the contract termination, adding that discussions with the agency remain ongoing.
