Kim Hye-soo Reflects on Coupang Play Series Finale, Sharing Insights on Her Bold Transformation

Veteran actress Kim Hye-soo has officially wrapped up her latest project, Coupang Play's dark thriller series Infidelity Isn't the Issue Right Now. The show aired its final episode on September 4, closing out a chaotic story of secrets and betrayal.

The narrative centers on a high-profile influencer couple whose lives crash into their neighbors—a doctor couple undergoing a bitter divorce—after an unmanageable secret entangles both households.

A Raw Transformation From the Slums to Social Media Stardom

Kim starred as Park Kyung-hee, a self-made woman who clawed her way up from a redevelopment slum to become a top social media star with one million followers. As deep-seated betrayals surface, the cracks in her meticulously crafted life begin to show.

Kim delivered a layered performance, capturing the deep anxiety and insecurities lurking behind Kyung-hee's glamorous facade. She seamlessly shifted between polished, formal speech and raw slang to emphasize her character’s duality.

Her wardrobe played an equally active role in telling that story. Bold outfits paired with a voluminous hippie perm reflected Kyung-hee’s obsession with displaying her wealth, while deep burgundy ensembles signaled rising internal panic and tension.

Reflecting on the Climax and Pushing Acting Boundaries

Looking back at the production, Kim highlighted a pivotal ensemble scene from Episode 7 as her personal favorite. The moment brings every major character into the same room for a tense confrontation.

"Having all these distinct personalities collide in a single space was incredibly exciting to act out, and equally thrilling to watch back," Kim shared.

Reflecting on her overall experience, Kim noted how deeply the role challenged her professional mindset.

"It was a project that forced me to ask myself how much further I could push my craft and how much I could let go," she explained. "I feel like I'm leaving behind a completely new face as an actor."
