Broadcaster Hong Jin-kyung has issued an apology regarding a recent political color controversy.
On June 3rd, Hong Jin-kyung posted an apology on Instagram, addressing the controversy that arose the previous day. The issue stemmed from a photo she had posted, in which she was wearing a red top. The post has since been deleted.
She personally wrote a handwritten apology. First, she explained the delay in her response, stating, "I am currently on an overseas business trip. The time difference prevented me from checking the internet until now."
She continued, "I used to feel sorry for celebrities who engaged in actions that could be misunderstood as political during election periods. For me to make such a foolish mistake myself, I am truly dumbfounded."
She clarified that the photo had no connection to political affiliation. Hong Jin-kyung stated, "Those photos were taken two days ago at a shop in Stockholm. I simply posted them because I found the design of the clothes interesting," adding, "I didn't consider the color of the top at the time."
She expressed deep remorse, admitting, "I have been overseas for a long time, quite disconnected from life in Korea. Perhaps I lost my sense of vigilance. Regardless of the reason, I was wrong."
Finally, she concluded, "I have nothing to say, even if I had ten mouths. This is clearly my fault," and "I sincerely apologize for confusing your minds during this sensitive period for everyone."
Recently, the entertainment industry has seen a series of political color controversies, particularly regarding clothing colors, ahead of the 21st Presidential Election. Karina and Beenzino were also caught in suspicions of supporting specific political parties, and have since clarified that "there was no such intention."
