'K-Pop Demon Hunters' Director Maggie Kang to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch for LG Twins on June 10

Maggie Kang, the Academy Award-winning director behind the global Netflix animation phenomenon K-Pop Demon Hunters, is set to take the mound at Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The LG Twins announced on June 8 that Kang will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on June 10 ahead of their weekday home game against the SSG Landers.

"We are thrilled to invite Director Maggie Kang, who has significantly expanded the global reach of K-content," the LG Twins organization stated. "We wanted to create a special moment for our fans to come together and cheer for victory."

Expressing her excitement, Kang shared, "It is a tremendous honor to throw the first pitch. I am delighted to share this positive energy with baseball fans and will do my best to deliver a powerful throw for an LG Twins victory."

Behind a Global Phenomenon

Directed by Kang, K-Pop Demon Hunters centers on a fictional K-pop girl group named "HunTRiss" who double as exorcists, battling against a grim reaper-themed boy band called the "Saja Boys."

The animated feature recently made streaming history by becoming the first Netflix title to surpass 300 million cumulative views. This milestone shatters previous records held by global megahits like Squid Game Season 1 (265.2 million views) and Wednesday (252.1 million views).

The film's commercial triumph has been matched by critical acclaim on the global awards circuit. K-Pop Demon Hunters swept major international accolades, most notably winning Best Animated Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards. The film also took home an Oscar for Best Original Song with its hit track "Golden."

Building on this massive success, Netflix recently officially confirmed a K-Pop Demon Hunters world tour concert, with detailed schedules and dates to be announced in the near future.
