Seventeen Agency Takes Strict Legal Action Against Online Defamation

Pledis Takes Strong Stance to Protect Seventeen's Rights

The agency representing the boy group Seventeen has officially stepped forward to protect the rights and interests of its artists. The entertainment label issued a firm warning promising stern legal measures against ongoing acts of criminal defamation.

On November 2, Pledis Entertainment published an official statement through the global fan communication platform Weverse. The announcement was uploaded under the notice title "Progress on Legal Actions Against the Infringement of Artist Rights."

The company issued a direct warning addressing illegal activities recently spreading across various social media platforms and online community boards. These offenses include malicious personal slander, character attacks, and the deliberate distribution of groundless false rumors targeted at the group members.

Focus on Protecting Members Fulfilling Military Service

The agency expressed particular concern regarding harmful attacks targeting group members who are currently completing their mandatory military duties. Management noted that such slander represents a grave issue that could directly harm and disrupt a stable military service environment.

In response to these developments, Pledis Entertainment is actively collecting comprehensive evidence involving problematic posts and malicious comments. Once the illegal nature of these actions is legally verified, the company intends to pursue all available legal remedies, including civil lawsuits and criminal prosecutions.

This strict enforcement strategy extends directly to user accounts hosted on social media platforms headquartered overseas. The agency strongly emphasized that even if perpetrators attempt to delete their posts or accounts, legal actions will proceed based on the digital evidence already collected.

Furthermore, the agency confirmed that legal penalties will target not only the original creators and authors of posts containing malicious mockery or slander, but also the individuals who redistribute and amplify that content. The company affirmed its firm policy to apply zero tolerance toward all offenders.

Concluding its statement, the agency pledged to continue prioritizing the honor, rights, and overall protection of its artists above all else. Management reaffirmed its commitment to taking proactive steps to safeguard the group moving forward.

Meanwhile, Seventeen has been undergoing its scheduled hiatus from full-group activities due to military service obligations since 2024. Among the thirteen total members of the team, nine have either completed or are currently fulfilling their required military service.
