South Korean national figure skater Cha Jun-hwan is expanding his artistic horizons by joining the creative team behind a highly anticipated theatrical production. Live Arena announced on June 15 that Cha will actively participate as a co-choreographer for the upcoming ice show Solo Leveling On Ice.
In addition to headlining the production as the lead actor, Cha will collaborate with former national figure skater and renowned choreographer Kim Hae-jin to elevate the show's artistic depth and technical execution.
Bringing an Action-Packed Webtoon to the Ice
"Cha Jun-hwan will transcend his role as a performer to lead the creative choreography," the production team stated. "We plan to three-dimensionally express the original webtoon’s dynamic action sequences and powerful narrative of growth."
Alongside the announcement, the production unveiled its main promotional poster and teaser trailer. The poster features Cha fully immersed in his character, Sung Jin-woo, capturing his dramatic "awakening" amidst the darkness, while the accompanying video showcases his powerful and dynamic skating technique.
Solo Leveling On Ice is a spectacular ice show adaptation of the globally acclaimed webtoon of the same name. Returning for an encore season following its successful premiere last year, the production uniquely blends the original storyline with musical theater elements and elite-level figure skating.
A Reimagined World Tour Experience
The production crew emphasized that the upcoming run will offer a completely fresh experience. "Rather than a simple reenactment of the source material, the sheer scale of this ice show will allow audiences to experience the Solo Leveling universe in a completely new and immersive way," they explained.
"With Cha Jun-hwan's direct involvement in the choreography, combined with heavily upgraded stage direction, cutting-edge stage technology, and enhanced performances, we look forward to delivering an unforgettable show. We ask for your high anticipation."
Solo Leveling On Ice will run for a total of 12 performances from August 7 to August 17 at the Mokdong Ice Rink in Seoul.
