Dahyun, a member of the global K-pop group TWICE, celebrated her birthday in a deeply meaningful way by stepping up to support leukemia patients.
JYP Entertainment announced on June 1 that in commemoration of her birthday on May 28, Dahyun donated 30 million KRW (approximately 22,000 USD) to the Ulsan Community Chest of Korea.
The funds will be directed to assist leukemia patients in the Ulsan region. It will specifically be used to cover medical expenses and treatment costs for individuals and families facing severe economic hardships due to their diagnoses.
"I wanted to share the immense love that I have received from fans," Dahyun stated. "I sincerely hope that my contribution can offer even a small amount of strength, comfort, and encouragement to those currently undergoing treatment."
Dahyun has long been recognized as one of the entertainment industry's most prominent philanthropic figures. Her track record of charitable giving includes a 50 million KRW donation for COVID-19 relief funds, as well as a joint 200 million KRW donation alongside her fellow TWICE members to aid recovery efforts following the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye.
Her consistent acts of kindness have earned her high honors; following a 50 million KRW donation to support recovery efforts from the Ulsan wildfires, she was officially appointed as a member of the "Ulsan Honor Society," an exclusive circle reserved for high-value major donors.
Meanwhile, TWICE is currently in the midst of their massive world tour, THIS IS FOR. The group was also recently named "Best Female K-Pop Artist" at the American Music Awards (AMAs).
