Boy Group Member Temporarily Halts Schedules for Medical Procedure
Sanghyun, a member of the rookie K-pop boy group ALPHA DRIVE ONE, will temporarily step back from public activities to undergo surgery for a vocal cord polyp.
His management agency, WAKEONE, issued an official statement on August 4 detailing the singer's health status and temporary schedule adjustment.
"Sanghyun recently visited the hospital after experiencing discomfort in his throat," WAKEONE stated. "Following a thorough medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with a vocal cord polyp that requires surgical intervention."
Surgery Details and Expected Recovery Timeline
Sanghyun is scheduled to undergo the procedure on August 5. Following the operation, medical professionals have advised him to strictly minimize vocal use for at least three weeks to ensure proper healing.
As a result, Sanghyun will sit out all official team commitments through August 22. In the K-pop industry, agencies frequently enforce immediate activity breaks when vocal health issues arise to prevent long-term damage to an artist's singing voice and career.
WAKEONE noted that while vocal strain must be avoided during this period, Sanghyun will still be able to engage in light physical movement and daily activities that do not require speaking or singing.
"Following August 22, decisions regarding his schedule will be made after carefully considering feedback from his medical team as well as the artist's personal intentions," the agency explained. "Activities involving vocalization or singing will resume gradually in stages depending on his recovery progress."
Group Comeback Schedule Remains Intact
Despite Sanghyun's brief hiatus, ALPHA DRIVE ONE is preparing for their upcoming music release campaign. The group is set to drop their second mini-album, UNBREAKABLE : 少年BEAST, on August 24.
