BJ A, who threatened singer Kim Jong-soo and grinded the gold, was sentenced to death in appeal.
Seoul High School Court Part 10-1 (Vice President Lee Lee Lee Lee Jae-soo Lee Jae-gyun Lee Jung-gyun) held the date of BJ A's appeal for alleged violations (co-polls) of certain economic crimes weighted penalties.
Mr. A threatened Kim Jun-soo from September 2020 to October 2024, and was accused of grinding a total of 840 million won over 101 rounds.
Earlier in February, Mr. A was sentenced to seven years in prison. Mr. A appealed for bipartisan reasons, and the prosecution appealed for misunderstanding.
The Court of Appeals said, "The victim was deliberately threatened and gifted over a total of 101 rounds for about four years." "If you look at the duration of the offense, the technique, the amount of damage, etc., the sin is very heavy."
"The victim had a hard time in normal daily life due to the defendant's constant threats and demands for gold, and he suffered extreme stress and depression. I'm pleading for the punishment," he explained.
The trial also ordered additional confiscation of Mr. A's cell phones. Concerning further damage if a mobile phone with a private conversation with Kim Jong-soo is returned to Mr. A.
The judge said, "One of the absorbed mobile phones and one of the smartphone devices are confiscated in accordance with Article 1 of Article 48 of the Criminal Code. So the prosecutor's appeal is for a reason."
In his first bulletin last month, Mr. A said, "I sincerely apologize and ask for forgiveness from the victims who are hurt and hard because of me."
Mr. A was dismissed from the second ruling and filed two days.
