"Don't take advantage of people's desperation." (Kim Kook-heon)

Singer and actor Kim Kook-heon has openly criticized Mnet's 'Boys 2 Planet' (hereafter 'BoPla 2'), questioning the elimination and editing decisions concerning some contestants.

On July 27th, Kim Kook-heon posted a message on social media related to 'BoPla 2,' sharing a video titled, "This talent is a 'No Star'? A legendary performance was entirely edited out."

Controversy Over 'No Star' Elimination

The video features DRIPPIN's Lee Hyeop and Kim Dong-yoon performing INFINITE's "Be Mine." Despite the intense choreography, they showcased stable live vocals. However, their stage was completely removed from the broadcast. Even though they were perfectly balanced performers, they were not selected as 'PD's Pick.'

Kim Kook-heon directly addressed the production staff, writing, "Don't take advantage of desperate people's hopes. You don't know what they went through every single day while practicing."

Lee Hyeop was eliminated as a "No Star" during the 'BoPla 2' broadcast on July 24th. After receiving a 'Class Pending' judgment in the second class evaluation, he was ultimately included in the final 17 eliminated contestants.

The broadcast sparked an online frenzy, as Lee Hyeop is a former main vocalist of his group and was widely regarded as one of the most vocally talented participants on 'BoPla 2.' The masters' critique further fueled the controversy, as they decided on 'Class Pending' by stating, "Your dancing is at a very embarrassing level," even though no major mistakes were visible in the broadcast.

Similarly, in the individual stage evaluation for the signal song "HOLA SOLAR" on the 'BoPla 2' YouTube channel, many viewers agreed that his skill level was too high to be categorized as 'No Star.'

Despite the complete edit-out from the main show, Lee Hyeop was a popular contestant, ranking 7th in the blind vote and 11th in the real-time vote. This has led to calls for greater transparency regarding the scoring.

Meanwhile, Kim Kook-heon himself was a victim of Mnet's 'Produce X 101' vote-rigging scandal, where the production team pre-determined the final lineup and manipulated the voting results.
