“BIGBANG IS BACK.”
BIGBANG painted Coachella golden this weekend. In a relentless 60-minute set featuring 17 tracks, the group reaffirmed their status as K-pop legends with a performance of historic proportions.
On April 13 (KST), BIGBANG took the stage at the '2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival' in Indio, California. The group headlined a solo set at the Outdoor Theatre, drawing a massive global crowd.
“This is my first Coachella stage. I’m going to make this an unforgettable moment. Are you ready to party with us?” Daesung shouted to the roaring audience.
This performance marked the group’s Coachella debut—20 years after their initial start in the industry. Long before the set began, global fans dubbed the event "BANGCHELLA," and BIGBANG responded with a setlist that spanned their entire career.
A Two-Decade Legacy in 60 Minutes
The opening was cinematic. A massive screen displayed a moon shattering into fragments as a countdown ticked from 2006 to 2026, compressing the group’s 20-year trajectory into a few heart-stopping seconds.
As the intro to the mega-hit "Bang Bang Bang" began, the crowd erupted in a massive sing-along. The members emerged through piercing red lights, seizing control of the atmosphere from the very first note.
“Hello Coachella, we’re back!” G-Dragon announced, before transitioning into "Fantastic Baby." The group delivered flawless choreography and live vocals, with tens of thousands of voices joining in on the iconic chorus. During "Sober," they dominated the stage with their signature free-spirited energy, including a "taxi" performance and bold floor-work that swept through the valley.
Nostalgia Meets Modern Energy
The group also took a trip down memory lane, performing their 2006 debut-era track "A Fool of Only Tears," shifting the mood to a soulful R&B vibe. Fans responded by lighting up the desert with "Bang-bong" (BIGBANG’s official lightsticks).
The musicality was bolstered by a live band, adding a grand, rock-textured feel to hits like "Loser," "Day by Day," and "Tonight." The interplay between heavy drums, electric guitars, and the members' emotive vocals offered a fresh take on their classic discography.
Solo Spectacles and a Trove of Tropes
The solo stages highlighted the individual prowess of the members:
Taeyang: Kicked off with "Ringa Linga," showcasing his explosive energy, microphone-tossing stunts, and powerful stage presence.
G-Dragon: Surprised the crowd by appearing from below the stage for "POWER." He interacted intimately with fans, grabbing phones for selfies and playing to the cameras with effortless charisma.
GD X TAEYANG: The duo reunited for "Good Boy," a performance enhanced by cinematic black-and-white visuals and slow-motion choreography that felt like a piece of avant-garde film.
Daesung: Delivered the night's biggest twist by performing Trot (traditional Korean pop) for the first time in Coachella history. His renditions of "Over the Limit" and "Look at Me, Gwisun" turned California into a vibrant, high-energy festival grounds.
The Grand Finale and a New Chapter
The group reunited for "Home Sweet Home," exuding charisma in coordinated black-and-white outfits. They followed with an a cappella version of "Bad Boy," where the audience’s harmony filled the silence, accented by the members’ improvised ad-libs.
Before the final song, the members reflected on their 20th anniversary. "I will never forget this moment. Thank you," Daesung shared. Taeyang added, "BIGBANG has hit 20 years. This Coachella stage means the world to us, and we are truly looking forward to our future activities." G-Dragon teased fans with a cryptic promise: "We are preparing something massive. Get ready for a very fun 'Coming of Age' celebration for our 20th year."
The night ended with "Still Life" (Still Life/Spring Summer Fall Winter). The members walked to the edge of the stage, making eye contact with individual fans and hinting at what’s to come.
BIGBANG is scheduled to return for their second Coachella set on April 20.
