K-pop pioneer J.Y. Park (Park Jin-young) is stepping down from his position as an inside director at JYP Entertainment, transitioning his focus toward broader industry initiatives while retaining his creative leadership.

JYP Entertainment announced on the 10th that Park will not seek reelection as an inside director during the upcoming general shareholders' meeting scheduled for March 26. While exiting the board, he will maintain his role as Chief Creative Officer (CCO).

The move is part of a strategic shift for Park, who plans to dedicate his energy to external affairs. "He will continue his creative activities as an artist, mentor junior talent, and focus on initiatives aimed at advancing the K-pop industry as a whole," the company explained.

While the specific reasons for his resignation were not officially disclosed, industry insiders point to his "external duties" as a primary factor. Park is expected to devote significant time to his role as co-chair of the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, a position he has held since October last year.

J.Y. Park debuted in the music industry in 1994, rose to stardom with hits like "Honey" and "Don’t Leave Me," and founded JYP Entertainment in 1997. Over nearly three decades, he has been instrumental in the global success of powerhouse groups including god, Wonder Girls, 2PM, TWICE, and Stray Kids.
