MONSTA X member I.M (29, born Im Chang-kyun) is set to begin his mandatory military service next month.

I.M will officially enter a military recruit training center on February 9 to undergo basic military training. Following his training, he is scheduled to serve as an active-duty soldier in the Republic of Korea Army.

No official event will be held on the day of his enlistment. His agency, Starship Entertainment, requested that fans refrain from visiting the site: "To ensure safety and prevent congestion on-site, we ask that fans kindly cooperate by not visiting the training center."

The artist has previously struggled with chronic back pain, which led to a temporary hiatus last summer to focus on recovery. While his condition was severe at the time, his health has reportedly improved significantly.

Starship Entertainment addressed his medical status, stating, "I.M has been consistently undergoing rehabilitation. Medical professionals recently advised that he is fit to perform, provided he does not overexert himself."

Before his enlistment, I.M will join his bandmates for the group’s new full-unit world tour. He is scheduled to perform at the '2026 MONSTA X WORLD TOUR THE X : NEXUS' at the KSPO Dome in Seoul from January 30 to February 1.

"The artist will participate in the performances within a reasonable limit to prioritize his health," the agency added. "We ask for the fans' kind understanding."
