Actor Song Geon-hee is beginning his mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier today.
On the 1st, Song Geon-hee posted a message on his agency J:G Entertainment's social media, saying, "I know this sudden news must have been surprising, but I wanted to send my greetings, however late."
He confided, "I originally should have gone earlier, but I am now heading to the military almost at the age of 30. As I prepare for my final departure, many thoughts are passing through my mind."
The actor expressed his gratitude to his fans (known as 'Geonhee Matters'). "I am keeping my promise to leave behind a fresh, youthful image of my 20s when I first started this work," he said, adding that it was "all thanks to 'Geonhee Matters' who have always supported me for the past nine years."
Song Geon-hee concluded his message, saying, "I don't know how to convey everything so that it truly resonates. I thank you with all my heart. I will hold all the feelings I can't express right now tightly here and go. Although I will be away briefly, please stay healthy until I return. I promise to come back in good health."
Song Geon-hee officially enlisted today as an active-duty soldier in the Army. He will enter the Army Recruit Training Center to undergo five weeks of basic military training and is expected to be discharged in May 2027.
