Actor Returns to Global Campaigns Following Complete Legal Clearance
South Korean actor Kim Soo Hyun has officially resumed his professional activities after a 16-month hiatus, appearing as the new face of Philippine fashion brand Bench.
On August 2, the clothing brand published an video interview featuring Kim on its official social media channels. Addressing international fans directly, the actor expressed his gratitude for their patience during his extended absence.
"I missed you all so much," Kim said in the video message. "I am very happy to greet everyone after a long time. Please look forward to this new campaign."
Background of the 16-Month Activity Pause
The campaign marks Kim’s first public activity since stepping back from the entertainment industry in March of last year. His hiatus followed public controversy when YouTube channel HoverLab (Garosero Research Institute) alleged that Kim had previously dated the late actress Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor.
Following the allegations, representatives of the late actress filed a formal complaint against Kim, citing alleged violations of the Child Welfare Act. However, South Korean law enforcement authorities ultimately dismissed all charges against Kim due to a lack of objective evidence, clearing him of wrongdoing.
In the South Korean entertainment industry, domestic agencies frequently suspend an artist's promotional schedules during active police inquiries or severe public controversies to minimize commercial damage and protect brand partnerships while legal facts are established.
Upcoming Projects and Future Outlook
With his endorsement activities underway, Kim is set to continue his acting career with the upcoming Disney+ original series Knock-Off.
Production details for the series have been completed, though Disney+ has not yet confirmed an official global premiere date.
