American entertainment outlet Variety reported that the film will open in 1,500 theaters across the United States beginning September 9.
This marks the largest North American release for a Korean film since Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning masterpiece Parasite. The aggressive distribution strategy by indie powerhouse NEON reflects the same bold commitment the company demonstrated when re-releasing classics like Oldboy.
Premium Screenings and Cannes Momentum
Ahead of its wide nationwide debut, NEON is hosting early access preview screenings in major cities like New York and Los Angeles. The special events will take place in premium formats, including Dolby Cinema and 4DX.Hot off its debut in the main competition at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, anticipation for the thriller has reached a fever pitch. Ticket sales for several preview locations sold out almost instantly upon going live.
Hope tells the story of a small-town police chief in the isolated coastal village of Hope Harbor. The plot kicks off when local youths report sighting a mysterious creature, plunging the community into an unbelievable, high-stakes battle for survival.
A Star-Studded Global Cast
The film features an ensemble cast blending top Korean talent with Hollywood A-listers. The lineup includes Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.
