AB6IX is making a comeback with a new album, ready to prove their more mature artistic side.
The group released their 10th EP, "UPSIDE DOWN," on August 25th. The album contains their desire to "turn the world upside down" with a new perspective and sound.
The album features a total of six songs, with the title track being "STUPID." The song uses a rock sound to express the inner cry of a person hurt and ignored. Members Lee Dae-hwi and Park Woo-jin participated in the song's production. The album also includes a variety of genres with tracks like "Square Up," "Friday Trouble," and "A Million Dreams."
The members expressed strong confidence in the new album. "We're so excited to show you a great performance and great songs," they said, promising to "show you our best because you've waited so long."
The Members Share Their Thoughts
Here's an interview with AB6IX about their new album.
Q. How do you feel about this comeback?
Jeon Woong: It feels like time has passed so quickly that this is already our 10th EP. Because it's our 10th, we'll show you an even more grown-up side of AB6IX.
Kim Dong-hyun: It's been a while since our last comeback, so I'm a little nervous, but I'm also excited to show great performances and songs to our fans.
Park Woo-jin: It's been a long time since our comeback. I want to tell our fans thank you for waiting, and we will show you our best.
Lee Dae-hwi: We are finally making a comeback. We planned to do it earlier, but I think it got a little delayed because we were waiting for better songs. I'm so grateful and excited that we can meet our fans after a long time.
Q. What kind of song is the title track, "STUPID"?
Lee Dae-hwi: It's a dance song with a band sound that goes well with a refreshing summer night. The lyrics are easy to relate to, so I hope listeners find comfort in them.
Q. What are the key points of the "STUPID" performance?
Park Woo-jin: I think the main point of this performance is its public-friendly feel, which everyone can enjoy casually and excitingly. Through this stage, I think you'll be able to see various sides and charms of the members.
Q. "STUPID" carries a message of empathy and comfort for those who have been hurt. Do you have a personal tip for overcoming pain?
Kim Dong-hyun: I think I overcome pain by admitting my mistakes and letting them go, or by addressing unfair situations head-on.
Q. You've mentioned that the members were directly involved in writing, composing, and producing the album, increasing its quality. What was the area you focused on the most for this album?
Jeon Woong: Since "STUPID" is a refreshing and exciting song, I tried to make the choreography even more exciting and playful.
Kim Dong-hyun: When recording each song, I put more emotion into them than ever before and prepared for the stage with a lot of care.
Park Woo-jin: As always, I did my best for the people who will listen to our music. I tried to express what's in my heart to approach them with more emotion.
Lee Dae-hwi: The part I focused on most for this album is, of course, the music. I strongly believe that all things start from the music, so the music has to be good. I'm confident because all the songs on this album have diverse charms.
Q. Is there a song from your 10th EP 'UPSIDE DOWN' that you are especially attached to, and what's a listening tip for it?
Jeon Woong: It's track 5, "You're In My Plan." I wrote and composed it myself. I've worked on many songs so far, but I remember feeling proud of myself after finishing this one, thinking, 'I made this well!' It's a song I'm very attached to, so please give it a lot of love.
Lee Dae-hwi: I'm attached to the title track, of course, but I'm most attached to track 6, "Beautiful," because I think it will be a song that stays in our fans' and our memories for a long time. I hope that when we listen to it far in the future, it reminds us of this promotional period.
Q. You've been active with solo releases in various fields, and now you're returning to group activities after about 10 months. Are there any special moments or memorable episodes from preparing this album?
Kim Dong-hyun: The music video shoot was different from before because we tried a new method, which was fascinating and fun.
Park Woo-jin: There weren't any big episodes, but since it's more familiar and comfortable than solo activities, things naturally went well, just as they always do.
Q. What side of AB6IX do you want to show through this album?
Jeon Woong: We have taken on various concepts, but I want to enjoy the stage so we can hear people say, "AB6IX is still refreshing."
Q. Do you have a message for the fans who love AB6IX?
Jeon Woong: ABNEW! We've finally made a comeback. For all of you who have waited so long, we've returned with an album filled with six songs. We hope you listen to our new album 'UPSIDE DOWN' and have a refreshing summer. Please support our activities, thank you, and I love you.
Kim Dong-hyun: It took a little while. As we stand in front of our fans after a long time, we will do our best to show you many great sides of us! Let's make this album a huge hit.
Park Woo-jin: I'm always grateful and a little bit sorry, but thanks to your constant support and encouragement, we can be together. We will work hard to show you better songs and a better side of us so we can be happy together for a long time.
Lee Dae-hwi: ABNEW, thank you for waiting so long. We've brought you a truly wonderful album, so let's make this an unforgettable promotion. Let's cherish every moment and have fun. Fighting.
