Eunho of the group YOUNITE was the target of an attempted sexual assault by a fan overseas.
On August 18th (KST), YOUNITE participated in the "18th Korean Culture Day" event held in São Paulo, Brazil. They completed their performance to the passionate cheers of fans.
However, a sudden incident occurred as the group was leaving. A woman in the crowd broke through security and grabbed Eunho's shoulder, moving close as if to forcibly kiss him. Eunho turned his head, preventing the sexual assault from being carried out, but he appeared flustered. He quickly left the scene with his security detail.
The organizers of "Korean Culture Day" issued an official statement, expressing their regret over the "sexual assault incident in which a fan attempted to forcibly kiss an artist." They added, "We want to emphasize that no form of sexual crime can be tolerated" and "condemn all acts that infringe upon an individual's dignity and safety."
The group's agency, Brand New Music, also released a statement, saying, "Recently, safety incidents have occurred that threaten the artist's personal safety due to the excessive approach of some fans." They pointed out that such actions endanger everyone's safety. "Please maintain a safe distance. We ask for your active consideration and cooperation for a healthy fan culture," the agency requested.
Meanwhile, YOUNITE is an 8-member boy group that released its second single, "BOMBA," on the 4th.
