Actress Han Ji-eun has issued a statement in response to a controversy over animal neglect. On September 15th, her agency, Gram Entertainment, told Dispatch, "Moni [the lizard] is doing well without any health issues."

The agency continued, "Han Ji-eun regularly checks and observes Moni's health. She will continue to pay careful attention to him. We are grateful for everyone's concern and interest."

The controversy began on the 14th after Han Ji-eun's appearance on MBC-TV's The Manager. During the broadcast, she introduced her pet, a crested gecko lizard named Moni, and expressed her affection for him. However, criticism immediately followed the show, with viewers pointing out that the lizard appeared to be on the verge of death and criticizing her perceived lack of responsibility and careless care.

Viewers also left comments on Han Ji-eun's social media, expressing concern and saying, "You should have educated yourself about raising a lizard," "The lizard is pitiful," and "It's dangerous." Meanwhile, some netizens offered support, stating that it's understandable for a first-time pet owner to be unfamiliar with proper care.

Han Ji-eun's agency emphasized that they have taken the feedback to heart and will be more careful in the future.
