Rapper D.Ark (real name Kim Woo-rim) was arrested on October 27th on suspicion of marijuana use and distribution, though he is currently strongly denying the charges.
D.Ark's agency, God's Plan, told Dispatch in a phone call on the 28th, "The police's quick-test kit showed a negative result. We are now awaiting the results of the precise lab tests," adding, "He himself insists he has absolutely never used drugs."
An agency official expressed shock, stating, "We have thoroughly educated him about drugs at the company. Even the day before his arrest, D.Ark and I discussed how 'drugs are absolutely forbidden.' This was completely unexpected, and we are bewildered."
D.Ark, who is a Chinese-Korean from Yanji in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, was arrested at his home in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, by the Jeonnam Mokpo Police Station. The charges are a violation of the Act on the Control of Narcotics, specifically for alleged marijuana use and distribution.
Reports indicate that D.Ark's parents, upon hearing the news, immediately boarded a flight to South Korea and headed to the Mokpo Police Station.
The agency further noted, "D.Ark typically kept to his home and the company. As far as we know, he hasn't been near the Mokpo area, except for an event at Jeonbuk National University last year." They concluded, "We will await the results of the investigation."
Born in 2004, D.Ark rose to prominence on Mnet’s 'Show Me The Money 777' (2018) and later placed third on 'High School Rapper 4' (2021). He released his latest digital single, 'Sorry for Cheating on You' (feat. Be'O), in September.
