"I am happiest when I sing." (Miyeon)

Miyeon has maintained a packed schedule this year, balancing activities with (G)I-DLE, releasing a Japanese album, going on a Japanese tour, and communicating with fans via her personal YouTube channel—all while focusing on her solo album preparations.

She emphasized that even the busy schedule brings her joy. "I never imagined I would receive this much love after debut. My mindset is to work hard every day with gratitude," she said.

The artist participated directly in the creation of her new solo album, injecting it with her unique musical colors. Expressing confidence, she stated, "I’ve returned solo after about three years and six months. I worked very hard on this."

"I made this album with confidence in myself. I put in my best effort. I want to be remembered as a singer who is 'capable and works hard.'"

Miyeon held a showcase for the release of her second mini-album, 'MY, Lover,' on the 3rd at 4 PM KST at the Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Hannam-dong, Seoul.

'MY, Lover' is her first solo album in approximately three years and six months since her debut solo album, 'MY.' While the first album contained the essence of Miyeon herself, the new record delves into the emotions of love.

The album features a total of seven tracks. Miyeon explained, "Each of the seven songs captures a different emotion of love, spanning moments of breakup, lingering feelings, regret, recollection, overcoming, and dedication."

She focused on detailed storytelling. "I didn't initially intend to focus solely on love. I wanted to express deep emotions, and that naturally led to the theme of love," she added.

Miyeon has further established herself as a singer-songwriter, participating in the lyrics for B-sides and the overall production of the album to infuse her identity as a solo artist.

She noted, "Working on each song, I felt that love is multi-faceted and can be projected onto various objects. I paid close attention to making the music relatable for listeners."

Miyeon placed a strong emphasis on change. "As the main vocalist of (G)I-DLE, I mostly sang impactful parts. I wanted to build the strength to comfortably lead an entire song," she shared.

The title track chosen for this goal is 'Say my name.' Prepared in the genre Miyeon handles best, it is a pop ballad that vividly portrays deep emotions.

"I worried about which song to pick as the title for the second album. The pressure was intense," Miyeon admitted. "I changed my mindset to simply show my authentic self."

The song features a delicate piano melody and a rhythmic beat, complemented by Miyeon's sensitive vocals, singing about the persistent longing that remains after a breakup. To elevate the stage presence of the pop ballad, Miyeon performs sitting on a pedestal, engaging in seamless coordination with her dancers while showcasing her solid high notes.

The pre-released track, 'Reno (feat. Colde),' offers a different charm, depicting the moment love turns into obsession and heads towards destruction, creating a subtle tension.

Miyeon recalled the intense nature of the song. "It was strong for me as well. I worried that it might differ too much from the songs I've done and my public image, potentially making it daunting or difficult," she mused. She ultimately decided on the challenge, stating, "Since I've done powerful songs even with (G)I-DLE, I challenged myself with the belief that 'I can do this well alone, too.'" She added with a smile, "When I saw the song, I was confident in my vocals and knew it was a song I definitely wanted to challenge. I had confidence, and those around me provided great support."

The album also includes various other genres across tracks like 'F.F.L.Y,' 'Space Invader,' 'You and No One Else,' 'Petal Shower,' and 'Show.' She urged listeners to "listen to the album in its entirety."

Miyeon confessed, "When preparing the album, I felt burdened by the thought of 'I have to do well.' At the same time, I told myself, 'I must have grown because I worked hard.'"

She emphasized that the result is growth as an artist. "I was confident in myself and aimed to 'broaden my spectrum.' I created this album while already thinking about the next one," she stated.

Miyeon promised to continue striving as a vocalist. "I am happiest when I sing. I will work hard to become a skilled singer whose music people can enjoy comfortably," she concluded.

Finally, she expressed affection for her fans (Neverland). "During my first album, I was very nervous, and fans might have worried, 'Can Miyeon do well?'" she confided. "This time, I hope you enjoy the music comfortably. I wish to make many memories during these promotions. I want to tell Neverland that I love them."

Miyeon released her new album at 6 PM KST on the same day.
