Actress Kim Go-eun has officially joined 'Yumi's Cells Season 3'.
TVING announced on the 13th, "'Yumi's Cells Season 3' (written by Song Jae-jung, Kim Kyung-ran, directed by Lee Sang-yeob) is being produced. Kim Go-eun will return to her role as Yumi."
'Yumi's Cells Season 3' (hereafter 'Yumi's Cells 3') is a sequel to 'Yumi's Cells'. Based on the original webtoon, the new series is set to be released approximately three years after the previous season.
In the upcoming season, Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun) becomes a star writer. She navigates her daily life alongside her cells, who remain solely focused on her. The series will depict her journey of growth and romance within this framework.
The original production team has reunited for the new season. Director Lee Sang-yeob will return to direct, following his work on Season 1 and Season 2. Writers Song Jae-jung and Kim Kyung-ran are also contributing to the script.
Notably, Kim Go-eun's reprisal of her role is heightening anticipation. She previously garnered significant viewer empathy as Yumi, receiving widespread affection for her perfect portrayal of the character.
Kim Go-eun shared her sentiments, stating, "It is an honor to be able to continue Yumi's narrative," and expressed her desire to "capture well the various turning points Yumi experiences in her life."
She added, "'Yumi's Cells' has been a journey with Yumi since 2021," and conveyed her hope to "sincerely bring the series to a good conclusion."
In Season 3, an unpredictable romance will unfold for Yumi, who has achieved her dream of becoming a writer. The village of cells will regain vitality as Yumi experiences the flutter of new excitement.
A representative stated, "Kim Go-eun will humorously portray the story of a more mature Yumi," and requested anticipation for "the activities of the cells representing love, reason, emotion, and more."
Meanwhile, 'Yumi's Cells 3' is scheduled for release on TVING in the first half of next year.
