The film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Castle Arc has set a new record for the fastest-grossing film of the year.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated movie ticket network, the film reached a cumulative audience of 2 million as of 7 PM on August 26th.

This record was achieved in just five days since its release, a faster pace than other major films, including Zombie Daughter (6 days), Mickey 17 (10 days), and Mission: Impossible - Final Reckoning (12 days).

The film is currently on track to become the fastest box office success of the year and is expected to surpass its predecessor, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train, which drew 2.22 million viewers.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Castle Arc depicts the first chapter of the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the elite demons within their stronghold, the Infinity Castle. The film has received high ratings from audiences, with a CGV Golden Egg Index of 96%, a Megabox score of 9.5 out of 10, and a Naver viewer rating of 9.19, proving its simultaneous critical and commercial success.

The film has also been a massive hit in its home country, Japan, drawing 19.82 million viewers in 38 days and grossing 28 billion JPY, making it the third-highest-grossing Japanese film of all time.
