The Netflix series "Squid Game" won six awards at a major U.S. entertainment awards ceremony.

The Gold Derby TV Awards announced the winning titles and recipients on its official website today, August 19th (KST). Squid Game demonstrated its continued prestige by sweeping the top awards.

First, Squid Game won Best Drama Series. Actor Lee Jung-jae, who played the protagonist Seong Gi-hun, was named Best Actor in a Drama Series. The cast also took home multiple acting trophies: Kang Ae-sim (for the role of Jang Geum-ja) for Best Supporting Actress, Choi Seung-hyun (for the role of Thanos) for Best Supporting Actor, and Gong Yoo (for the role of Ttaji-man) for Best Guest Performance. The series also received the Best Ensemble of the Year award.

The awards ceremony honored content released between 2024 and 2025. Squid Game achieved back-to-back hits with the release of Season 2 in December 2024 and Season 3 in June 2025.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk shared his acceptance speech, saying, "I sincerely thank the officials and fans who gave these wonderful awards to Squid Game and its actors." He added with a hint of humor, "Sometimes I get disappointed when my predictions are wrong. It seems 'Gold Derby' has made up for that disappointment with these great awards. I'll be sure to watch 'Gold Derby' even more closely now."

The Gold Derby Awards is a specialized entertainment awards show, now in its 22nd year, honoring content across 30 categories including television, variety shows, animation, and film. The Squid Game series has become a global phenomenon, sweeping major U.S. awards like the 74th Emmy Awards and solidifying the global influence of K-content.
