"One of us has to die for this to end."

This is a message reportedly sent by actor and former UN member Choi Jung-won to his ex-girlfriend, identified as Ms. A, also including phrases like, "You should die, and I should die."

Choi Jung-won reportedly went to Ms. A's home and brandished a bladed weapon. However, in an interview, he explained, "I held the knife to harm myself, not to threaten my girlfriend."

According to reports, Ms. A broke up with Choi Jung-won on August 16th. Unable to accept the breakup, he allegedly made numerous phone calls and sent several threatening messages. It is understood that he sent messages such as, "One of us has to die for this to end. You must also take responsibility for the outcome," and then reportedly went to her home to threaten her.
br />Ms. A reported the incident to the police, and Choi Jung-won was booked on charges of special intimidation. The police also implemented an emergency temporary measure against him for stalking behavior, and the court issued a formal restraining order.

Choi Jung-won has maintained his innocence, claiming on the 19th that he only "attempted to harm himself with a bladed weapon in response to the breakup" and that he "had no intention of threatening her."

Meanwhile, Choi Jung-won was also sued in 2023 for allegedly having an affair with a married woman. He had filed a counter-lawsuit for defamation, engaging in a legal battle.
