The agency for the vocal group Brown Eyed Soul has publicly refuted the claims made by former member Sung-hoon regarding the reasons for his departure from the group.
On the 7th, Long Play Music issued an official statement via Instagram, asserting, "The content posted by former member Sung-hoon contains multiple parts that are untrue."
The statement comes in direct response to Sung-hoon's social media post earlier in the day, where he claimed: "I did not decide to leave. I desperately wanted to protect [the team] until the very end." He also alleged that the CEO prevented him from having a YouTube channel and even told him to "get on his knees and beg Na-ul hyung" if he wanted to pursue further activities.

Agency Cites Inappropriate Behavior as Reason for Split

Long Play Music offered a different account, explaining that Sung-hoon experienced "psychological difficulties and an unstable state" due to a prolonged hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and a member’s health issues, during which he was undergoing professional counseling and treatment.

The agency revealed that the true reason for his eventual departure was his inappropriate behavior. "Sung-hoon sent messages containing personal attacks to the members and their families. The company recommended treatment and rest due to these concerns," the statement disclosed.

According to the agency, while they actively supported Sung-hoon's individual activities, including the production of a solo album and YouTube content, his situation did not improve, making it difficult for the team to continue as a quartet.

"After consultation with Sung-hoon, we ultimately decided to terminate his exclusive contract and for him to leave the team," Brown Eyed Soul's side emphasized. "We are stating our position because the spread of untrue information is causing unnecessary misunderstandings."

The agency concluded by extending their support, stating, "As long-time colleagues, we sincerely wish for Sung-hoon's stability. However, we will take strong measures, including legal action, if the artists' honor is defamed through the dissemination of false facts."

In related news, Brown Eyed Soul continues its activities as a trio (Na-ul, Young-joon, and Jung-yup). They recently released their 5th full-length album, Soul Tricycle, on the 23rd of last month, and are scheduled to hold a year-end concert at Gocheok Sky Dome on December 24th, 25th, and 27th.
