The group QWER is set to reinterpret a hit song from a "national band" of South Korea.
Tamago Production announced on the 6th that QWER will release the special single "White Whale" (흰수염고래) on the same day at 6 PM KST across various music streaming platforms.
A New Take on a Rock Classic
"White Whale" was originally released by YB (Yoon Do Hyun Band) in 2011, carrying a message about quietly following one's own path, much like the song's namesake, the white whale. QWER's version incorporates the group's unique sensibility, adding a message of comfort and hope: "overcoming fear in a difficult world and moving forward into a wider world."
The song has already been pre-released live; QWER performed "White Whale" at the third stop of their recent world tour concert in Seoul.
The agency stated, "We are focusing on the legacy of resistance and solidarity that YB established in the Korean rock scene, and QWER will use this as a milestone to move out into the wider ocean."
QWER's special single "White Whale" and an accompanying special clip featuring added performance footage will be released concurrently on music platforms at 6 PM KST.
