The production team of ENA and SBS Plus's 'I Am Solo' has announced they will delete broadcast footage of a cast member who has been arrested on sexual assault charges.
On June 24th, the 'I Am Solo' production team posted an official statement on their YouTube community. They bowed their heads in apology, stating, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern to the many viewers who love 'I Am Solo'."
The production team confirmed that they became aware of Mr. Park's (30s) alleged criminal charges on the morning of June 24th. Park was arrested on June 21st on charges of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, and is currently detained at Mapo Police Station.
The 'I Am Solo' team stated, "Recognizing the gravity of the matter, we plan to broadcast to ensure no discomfort, and we will do our utmost to edit and delete the cast member from already aired episodes."
They reiterated their apology, saying, "Despite our caution, we feel a deep sense of responsibility that such an incident occurred," and promised, "We will strictly manage [cast members] to ensure responsibility is upheld even after filming."
Past Controversies Among Cast Members
This is not the first controversy involving 'I Am Solo' cast members.
Episode 23's Jung-sook, introduced as a former Miss Korea, was entirely edited out of the broadcast after allegations surfaced regarding a theft in a conditional meeting 13 years prior.
Episode 10's Jung-sook was sentenced to a 7 million won fine in her first trial on charges including assault. She was accused of slapping a victim's cheek six times and destroying their cell phone during a dispute over a taxi ride.
