The original soundtrack for Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' continues its robust performance on music charts.
According to a chart forecast article released by Billboard on July 14th, the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST climbed one spot from the previous week to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
This marks a new peak for the album, which debuted at No. 8 in its first week and then jumped five spots to No. 3. It has now continued its ascent to second place.
The OST is one of only four soundtracks in the 2020s to reach No. 2 or higher on this chart, joining 'Wicked,' 'Barbie,' and 'Encanto.'
The Billboard 200 ranks albums based on combined physical album sales, streaming equivalent album units (SEA), and track equivalent album units (TEA). The 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' OST saw a 21% increase from the previous week.
It recorded 75,000 album units, with SEA accounting for 70,000 units, album sales at 4,000 units, and TEA at 1,000 units.
Billboard highlighted that "'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is the first OST since 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (2017) to debut in the Top 10 and then see an increase in album units in its second and third weeks."
In its third week of release, it garnered 96.33 million streams, an exceptional achievement for an OST. This marks the most weekly streams for an OST in approximately three years, since 'Encanto.'
Domestic Popularity Also Soaring
Its popularity is also red-hot in South Korea. "Golden," sung by the in-film girl group Huntrix, claimed No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 chart as of 7 AM today, surpassing strong hits from artists like All Day Project and aespa.
Lion Boyz's "Soda Pop" ranked 5th, and "Your Idol" at 19th. "How It's Done" was 54th, "Takedown" 93rd, and "Free" 98th, with a total of six tracks entering the Top 100.
