A Japanese woman who allegedly attempted to kiss BTS member Jin during a fan event has been formally referred to trial.
The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office announced on the 12th that it has indicted Ms. A, a Japanese woman in her 50s, without detention on charges of violating the Act on Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (Forcible Indecency).
Ms. A is accused of attempting to kiss Jin on the cheek during a "hug event" held at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul last June. The investigation was launched after a complaint was filed.
The Songpa Police Station initially booked Ms. A and requested her appearance, but the investigation was temporarily suspended in March. The investigation resumed after Ms. A voluntarily appeared at the police station.
The police determined that the charge of forcible indecency was applicable to Ms. A’s actions and forwarded the case to the prosecution in May.
Meanwhile, BTS, the group Jin belongs to, is currently preparing a full-group album aimed for release next spring.
