A new "mutual-salvation" bromance is coming to the small screen as veteran actor Cha Seung-won and rising star Kim Do-hoon join forces.
On April 14, tvN officially unveiled the lead casting for its upcoming drama, 'Retired Agent + Management Team' (working title, scripted by Song Han-na and Kim Min-sung, directed by Jin Chang-gyu).
The series is described as a "dual-salvation" espionage drama. It follows the story of a former National Intelligence Service (NIS) black-ops agent who now runs a quiet car wash, and his unexpected partnership with a current employee from the NIS’s Retired Agent Management Team.
Character Dynamics: The Veteran and the Ace
Cha Seung-won stars as Kim Cheol-su, a retired black-ops legend who has traded his tactical gear for a neighborhood car wash. Despite his quiet daily life, he maintains an inner fire and a lingering desire for action.
Kim Do-hoon takes on the role of Go Yo-han, a high-achieving "ace" agent. Despite his top-tier entrance scores, he is surprisingly assigned to the Retired Agent Management Team. He spends his days struggling to find a way back to active field duty.
A Rough Partnership
The crux of the drama lies in the chemistry between these two. As they both dream of a "second act" in their careers, they find themselves pursuing a traitor who has been operating behind the scenes of a major criminal organization.
The production team commented, “The 'bickering' chemistry between a legendary retired agent and a motivated rookie, combined with their gritty cooperation, will be a major highlight of the series.” They added, “Fans can look forward to a mix of intense action, comedy, and a heartfelt bromance.”
'Retired Agent + Management Team' is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2026.
