Action superstar Ma Dong-seok (55, legal name Lee Dong-seok) is mourning the loss of his father.
Ma’s father, the late Mr. Lee Ki-tae, passed away on June 2. A memorial altar has been dedicated at Room 17 of the Samsung Medical Center Funeral Home in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
"We ask for your kind understanding as we are currently overwhelmed and unable to contact everyone individually," Ma’s representatives stated in a brief announcement. "We would be deeply grateful to those who can join us in paying their final respects as he walks his last path."
Ma Dong-seok and his wife, Ye Jung-hwa, have been designated as the primary mourners (sangju). Bound by grief, the couple is currently remaining at the wake to receive condolence calls and welcome visiting mourners.
The funeral procession (bal-in) is scheduled to take place on the morning of June 4 at 8:30 AM KST. The final resting place for the deceased will be at the Seoul Memorial Park.
Meanwhile, Ma Dong-seok recently entered principal photography for the fifth installment of his blockbuster action franchise, The Roundup 5 (known domestically as The Outlaws 5). In addition to starring as the lead protagonist, Ma serves as the head screenwriter and executive producer for the record-breaking film series.
